A FAIR Weekend for Rocking, Racing and EATING

Ozzy can still rock!!!
Even at 63 years of age, Ozzy proved he can still perform well and put on a great show.  The show opened up with a video clip showing different parodies of various movies where Ozzy was one of the main characters from each clip.  It was a very comical introduction to his show.  I guess this was kind of a sign of the times as the once evil and what could be portrayed as Satanic sets and stage shows was not evident at this show.  The madness began with "Bark at the Moon".  The setlist contained music spanning his entire career.  5 Black Sabbath songs were part of the setlist which contained Iron Man and Paranoid which have been part of his setlist forever.  Other Sabbath classics included "War Pigs" and "Fairies Wear Boots".  Ozzy was very animated on stage and provided a lot of energy while tossing buckets of water and dousing the crowd with a high pressure hose spraying them with foam.  A great time was had by all in attendance and nobody left disappointed.  Slash was the opening act for the night and performed numerous Guns N Roses hits as part of their setlist.  Slash's front man did a good job performing the difficult singing style of Axle Rose from GNR.

Eastbay Raceway Winter Nationals Ron Laney Memorial
Saturday night I took my 3 kids to East Bay Raceway for the Ron Laney Memorial Sprint Car race.  Yes, I even took my princess Julia to the races too and she loved it.  Saturday night was a great night of racing at East Bay.  There was a very good car count for the 360 sprints and Mini Sprints.  The heat races were very competitive all night leading up to the King of the 360's Ron Laney Memorial race.  The A Main Feature was a 40 lap race with 20 cars on 1/3 mile track.  Surprisingly, there was not 1 caution the entire 40 laps.  Seeing 20 cars, on that short of a track for 40 laps is very exciting and it is hard to appreciate it without seeing it in person.  You find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat watching wheel to wheel racing with open wheeled vehicles.  The great thing about local tracks is the pits are usually open after the races and fans can go back and meet the drivers and see the cars up close.

We spent the day eating food all over the place, the kids rode numerous rides and we walked around and looked at a lot of the exhibits.  The day was beautiful and we all got a lot of sun that day.  We arrived around 9:30 am and we stayed the entire day and left around 7:00 pm.  The fair had a great petting zoo with a lot of animals and even had a Giraffe.  The Giraffe was a big hit there and he loved getting all the carrots people were feeding him.  The Florida State Fair is a great time with TONS of things to do and see there.

I recorded the Daytona 500 and went out of my way to make sure I didn't know the outcome of the race.  After returning home from the Fair, I watched the race in its entirety but was able to fast forward through the commercials and caution laps(where there a lot of).  I was very happy with the outcome for a couple of reasons.  A first time winner who was also a rookie won the race for a legendary team from back in the day.  The Wood Brothers Ford driven by Trevor Bayne was the winner.  The other exciting part of the race was DALE JR. CRASHED!!!!  It is always a great day when he crashes.

We have another busy week planned this week.  Jarrett had a baseball game tonight.  Saturday is my dads 79th birthday and we are going out for dinner that night.  Friday night we are going to have the Wrestling team over for the end of the year party.

Everyone have a great week.
